When I began designing my home with curran_drafting_and_design , the fireplace quickly became the focal point. Its presence shaped the entire layout, not just in terms of space but also acoustics. With a cathedral ceiling and a TV planned above the mantel (yes, I know), we had to be strategic - especially with the primary bedroom directly behind the fireplace wall. We found clever ways to minimize sound travel, though there are still a few things I’m learning from - more on that later.
Life has a funny way of coming full circle. Last week, my dear friend laur.currie visited to photograph some of my favorite corners of the house. We met years ago at Kitchen Cove Design Studio, collaborating on photoshoots, staging, and styling among many other things. We’ve since pursued our own creative paths, which luckily, still intersect. This shoot reminded me how much I love creating with her. I’m excited to continue sharing my home through photo and video and to perhaps start writing in my blog again - Is that still a thing?

The beautiful Great Room at stonebrook.home . She recently posted these photos (thanks Andrea) so I thought I would as well and include the finish carpentry concept board for this room. Prior to my client’s walk throughs with the Finish Carpenter and Contractor, after four-way, I’ll have concepts prepared with clients approval ready for discussion and pricing from the Carpenter. This speeds up the process for continuing work and gives the clients a proper visual of my ideas. We switched things up a few times here but ended up going back to our original designs. I loved working with these clients!
